In a bid to promote awareness and adoption of renewable energy in Nigeria, especially among the younger generation, JRB Solar Investment Limited, in collaboration with the Rauf Badamosi Foundation, is proud to announce Season 2 of the JRB Prize for Renewable Energy. This initiative, aimed at senior secondary schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is a significant step towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7), which focuses on ensuring access to affordable, reliable, and modern energy for all.

The Contest

The JRB Prize for Renewable Energy is designed to encourage students to think critically about the importance of renewable energy and its potential to transform Nigeria's energy landscape. The contest is open to senior secondary school students in the FCT, providing a unique opportunity for young minds to showcase their knowledge, creativity, and skills in promoting sustainable energy solutions.

Prizes

The contest promises to be highly rewarding, with prizes worth over N5.5 million. The grand prize winner will receive N1 million, while the first and second runners-up will receive N750,000 and N500,000, respectively. In addition to these cash prizes, there are numerous consolation prizes for other participants.

Objective

The primary objective of this initiative is to create awareness about the importance of renewable energy and its potential to drive sustainable development in Nigeria. By encouraging students to participate in the essay writing contest, JRB Solar Investment Limited and the Rauf Badamosi Foundation aim to:

How to Participate

To participate in the JRB Prize for Renewable Energy (season 2) the student must be the best essayist in his/her school, in order to represent the school, which must be determined after an internal competition. 

First, download the free application form from the home page of our website (JRB PRIZE FORM), fill, affix your passport and submit it to the centre for your area council. There are four centres for the preliminary stage, and these are;  

After the preliminary, the top ten students will qualify for the semi-final and engage in another writing task. The top five will finally go for the Grand Finale and stand a chance to become the champion. The Grand Finale is on the 30th of October 2025.
